So in a strange turn of events I found out that my dress is being discontinued. This meant I had to do my size exchange about 2 months earlier than I planned for it. I was nervous, but knew I had to do it.
Well, I offically fit into a dress 2 sizes smaller than when I started all of this. I exchanged a size 16 dress for a 12!! The 12 zipped up easilly and I felt so beautiful. It was very exciting and motivating to see the change and know that I will truly look the best I can on our wedding day.
The dress can be taken in if and when I lose some more, but it is just so exciting to feel so beautiful...and not just feel like I have the dress that hides the most. Current Mood: accomplished

yay for weight loss
Today I went to my weigh in at weight watchers and got a fantastic surprise. I hit my 10% goal. The first goal you get is to lose 10% of your body weight, and I did it!! I wasn't expecting or hoping for it this week, and it happened. It feels fantastic and is really motivating me to keep on working.
Time to start working on the next 10% :)
I hope you ladies are doing well too!! Current Mood: accomplished

Had to tell someone
I am just busting at the seams with excitement with using weight watchers. It is working, and it feels so good to be doing it. I can safely say that this is the best feeling of success, and knowing I will reach the goals I set out that I have ever had on a "diet".
The program is just working for me. I had a weigh in today, and I have lost a total of 11.2 lbs in 5 weeks on it. One of those weeks I was staffing a camp and had zero choice of the food I was given...I really worked on portion sizes that week. I am more than 1/2 way to my 10% loss. That will be so awesome.
Clothes are fitting looser, and I know that I will be able to turn in my dress next year for a smaller size...there is just no way it won't happen if I stick to things.
I just had to share my excitement. I feel good on this program, and I know that I am going to succeed on it :)
I hope you ladies are doing great!!!!!!!!!!!! Current Mood: accomplished

Real Update on where I am
So this community has been awfully quiet lately. I thought I'd update where I am in my weight loss/getting healthy journey.
When I first introduced myself here, back in April, I was down to 123lbs. AFter that, I got down to 121 (6lbs from my goal of 115), but have since gotten back up to 125. Life gets in the way sometimes! :)
This week was my first truly "back on track" in quite awhile. I've been eating really well, exercising every day, and am determined to see 124 by weekend.
How is everyone else doing?
In case anyone is curious, I'm posting a few of my daily food intake lists so you can see what I mean by "on track". I track my calories, fat, and protein intake - aiming for 1100-1400 calories, fat below 25%, and protein above 15 or 20%. My format is calories(fat)protein. I also aim for at least 64 ounces of water each day :)( Monday's foodCollapse )( Tuesday's foodCollapse )( Wednesday's foodCollapse )( Thursday's foodCollapse )

Hey fellow 2007 Brides (& Grooms!) who are trying to get fit!
I've decided I'm going to challenge myself to do 900 minutes of exercise during the month of August (that's an average of about 30 minutes per day). Anyone wanna join me??? I'll report my progress here every Friday :)

I just wanted to say hello. I was originally just going to maintain my size because my dress looked so good on me as it was (though it is a 16 I could barely breathe in), but my gallbladder had other ideas. I was in the hospital for 6 days two weeks ago, and I lost seven pounds in there. Now, I have to be on a strict low-fat diet, so I'm sure I've lost more since then. Now looks like as good a time as any to lose some weight to feel better about myself.
Wedding date: 6/16/07
High Weight: 179
Current weight: 164
Lowest weight (high school) 115
Short term goal: 140
Long term goal: around 125 Current Mood: motivated

Did anyone try on a gown knowing they wanted to lose a lot of weight beforehand? I'm really nervous all I will see is "fat" rather than "bride" when I go next week.
Man, I have some stress issues, I think...

Chocolate craving solved
Smart One's Chocolate Mousse.....SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO GOOD. It is 2 points for WW people. It is hitting the spot big time...at that time every woman wants chocolate.
It was so good I had to share.

Rave - my sister
About 3 weeks ago my sister had a beautiful baby girl. We decided that we would walk together after I get home from work each day to have someone to be accountable to. There are legit times one of us can't make it, but the rest of the time we walk at a brisk pace for at least 45 min.
Tonight she got home late from errands. I figured we wouldn't walk and had gotten settled in pj's. I had gone to the gym this AM, so I figured I was good. Nope..she called and got me to change clothes and hit the pavement with her. It was a good thing. Any addition to the workout is just weight loss gravy :) She rules...what an awesome help!! Since I have been losing a lot of weight lately, I thought I would try and see what has helped me thus far.
I told you guys about the water already.
Another thing I have been doing is keeping a food diary... not the easiest thing to do, but it does work. It allows me to see when I have gone overboard with eating and I limit myself the next day if I have. Each night, I put down little notes for myself and when I am feeling like I can't do it, i read the notes and realize how easy dieting really is and it is all in the head. If you want an example of what I do, I can do a post tomorrow or something.
I also make sure to eat breakfast, even if it is just an orange. When I don't eat breakfast, I find myself snacking all day long plus eating lunch and dinner, but when I do eat breakfast, I have a tiny snack, a small lunch, and dinner.
Every week I allow myself to give into one craving.... for instance, this week I allowed myself to buy peanuts... as long as I do not eat too much, and last week I had a twix candy bar. This way I don't feel like I am depriving myself.
Next, I do some form of exercise everyday, even it is just playing golf or going for a 15 minute walk. I also make sure I get two days off a week, but lately I have found myself getting active on those days too.
Lastly (for now anyway), I don't step on the scale more then once a week. When I stepped on the scale a lot, I found that I would get discouraged and stop trying to lose weight. Now that I do it once a week, I am usually shocked at the results, which motivates me even more.
Sorry this is long. I hope this help and I hope it inspires others to give advice... cause to be honest, this community has been dead lately. Current Mood: crazy

So, I have been losing a lot of weight lately and I couldn't figure out why. I thought it was because of stress, but I feel like I am always stressed and I have never lost that much weight before. I didn't think that I had really changed any of my eating habits, and I haven't been working out more.
I was thinking about it the other day and read an article online about drinking water. And it hit me. Since I began drinking enough water to stay hydrated, I have not have as big of an appetite as I used to, which means I am eating less without even realizing it.
Just so you know, it was recommended that you drink half of your weight in ounces. For me, that is 5 bottles of Arrowhead water per day.
Anyway, I thought this would be a good tip, because not only is it good for weightloss, but it's good for your health. I find it hard to remember to drink that much, so now I always keep my water bottle with my chapstick, which is the one thing I can't leave home without.
PS. because of this, I have lost over 10 pounds in 4 weeks. Current Mood: cheerful

so, I love eating salads, but lately, the idea of lettuce with salad dressing and a few carrot pieces thrown in seems so boring to me. I was wondering what extra items you guys add to your salads to spice them up?
Thanks. Current Mood: creative

I've commented on a few posts here, without making an intro post - so here goes:
Wedding date: 3-10-07
ST GW: 130
LT GW: 120 – 125( more about my efforts - kinda longCollapse )
Thanks again for this community. The ideas and the help and support are really great here. I hope this post wasn't too long and verbose!

Well, I had graduation this weekend, and family came to visit, so I am afraid that my plan to begin dieting went out the window. I was hoping to eat mostly salads at the many restaurants I was dragged to, but I gave into temptation. Plus, there was the chocolate fudge cake that was ordered for me and left with me.... luckily I am finding people to help me eat that, but still.
Ok ok, seriously tomorrow I need to be strong, is anyone else finding it hard to actually begin their diet. Current Mood: gloomy
